NE student Alicia Rider works as a server at Pappadeaux in Bedford, plays indoor soccer and plans to be an athletic trainer after graduating from college.
Her indoor soccer team, The Soccer Tots, is a co-ed team of about 10 people. She said though it’s a requirement for three girls to be on the field at all times, they usually run short on girls. She also said the name of the team wasn’t her idea.
“Before we were H1N1, which the guys came up with,” she said. “The guys came up with this name too, and I’m pretty sure someone was eating tatter tots that day.”
Rider wants to one day be an athletic trainer for the Texas Rangers or for NASCAR and said she got the idea when she was in high school.
“In high school I had bad knees and I couldn’t do any sports,” she said. “So I became an athletic trainer and loved it.”
