Growing up listening to The Beatles, Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who wouldn’t love music? Trinity River student Drew Mealer credits his love and interest in music to those bands.
Even though he was never a member of the school band, Mealer developed a love for music quickly. He began playing the guitar when he was 13 years old. After one year of lessons, Mealer began to teach himself new chords and songs.
“I really enjoy playing,” Mealer said. “Some people enjoy playing video games or Facebooking, but my hobby is playing the guitar.”
Mealer has been in one band, which recently broke up, due to differences. That will not end his music career, though. With the summer coming up and not having to put school as a top priority, he plans on getting another band started soon.
“I love the whole music scene. The friendships and memories I have made will never be replaced,” Mealer said.
