South Campus assistant professor of government Myrtle Freeman also serves as a faculty advisor to the International and Public Affairs Club, she said.

“Our goal is to make students global citizens of the world,” she said.

To do that, they have a lot of programs, lectures, community activities, charity drives and sponsors, she said. Last year, they did a clothing drive for the Haitian and Chilean people after the earthquake, she said.

They are hoping to travel to the state capitol to see how state lawmakers make policy, she said.

“So we’re going to be in the Texas state capitol, House of Representatives and the Senate,” she said.

While in Austin, they plan to see major landmarks as well, she said.
